ABOUT

I'm a caring person, intelligent, deeply respectful of women and the power they have had in making this world as caring and nurturing as it is. I have plenty enough at this stage of my life, but have decided to take a turn and follow Thoreau, to downscale and simplify, appreciate what it essential, not the trappings of status and material things. I like nice things, but things that work well interest me more. And definitely more interested in what's inside people, the treasures of the heart, the freshness of the mind, the compassionate in their hearts. In the immortal words of The Ancient One (a woman) in the Dr. Strange movie, it's not about you. It's about how we interact with each other, help each other, and then, poof, like magic, they help us in return and it's all easy and there's plenty to go round. Amazing how it works, how it's so simple, and equally astonishing how in today's world the superficial and meaningless rule, how the spirit of rampant greed and need for "Things" constantly works overtime to wipe goodness and neighborliness and compassion away. My focus at this stage of my life isn't to see how many vacations I can take, (though I want to see Ireland, my ancestral home) but rather is on contributing in whatever ways I can to what will make this world a better, stronger, safer place, for ourselves and those young and coming. I think about making the last chapters of my life the best ones in every way. Self reliant, financially stable, decades younger than the numbers at the top of the page, working at a semi-retirement job I completely love, at my college weight. In the midst of several writing projects, a novel, editing and writing for online music magazine, collecting all my poems, hundreds, written over 30 years and sorting through them, finding those that still stand up. I play music for enjoyment, taking up golf again, love finding new and interesting restaurants, like to cook, inhale music like I'm a strange alien who subsists on melodies, instruments and rhyme. Georgetown and the surrounding towns are full of natural wonder, I love it here. Dusting off my camera. Have lots of great friends and fellow journeyers. Life is good, life is full, I keep myself perfectly happy and busy on my own, but happiness shared is happiness squared, collaboration is best, look at The Beatles! Looking for one great collaborator in my life, a friend I can laugh with, a companion to enjoy adventures with, a love with whom I can naturally share my heart. And hers likewise. Start there, and a day at a time make a future of ever better days. I write a lot, as you can probably tell. Here's a poem I wrote, a sonnet.

Is it wrong, to think of you as always?
Your birth in me is new and seems as green,
as the fields, where in my youth, I spent days
in wide open wonder - all newly seen.
How is it then I seem to know you so.
As if, we, on hills of highland clover,
once ran, a lass and lad, then, lip to toe,
stood still, looking one another over.
Like a chest ‘neath a bed wherein you hide
favorite treasures – this, your secret heart.
Before it’s opened I know what's inside,
as if I was there when you chose each part.

How could it be we've only now just met,
Did we love, sleep, awaken, then forget?

What I am looking for

Tallish would be great, slender or average, natural, honest, smart, caring. Artistic in some way central to you would be great. Or aspiring to do that creative thing you never got to. Funny would be a wonderful plus, though I'm pretty good at that.
